Debt Consolidation Program
Before you decide on a program please take a moment to make a very useful list.
- Think about things - write down your feelings and concerns.
- Make objectives - example: markers of accomplishment which when crossed will be rewarded.
- Set Goals - for your self example: In one year I will like to be here or there short term and long term.
- Create a clear picture - in your mind what you want and then write it down as a list.
- Set a priority - from your list so your counselor can see clearly what you are expecting from his help and his time frame.
- People don’t plan to fail ever.
- People just fail to plan.
A good debt consolidation program will take you through a step by step process of determining what you need to become debt free in time.
Understand that when you are consolidating your current debt, you are continuing to build new debt but one you prefer. Your new debt is your consolidation loan.
Many factors will be taken into consideration before you and your counselor are able to arrive at the right loan and figures. A review of your credit report history is the biggest and top of the list. Each individual has created their debts differently and requirements may vary from person to person, some may own a home while another may not, some may have college tuition loans and another may not. Consolidation of debts does not make the debt go away it stretches out lower payments and interest over a prolonged period of time.
A good debt consolidator will develop a program that fits your individual needs and not put you in a cookie cutter program that may lead you to a path of bankruptcy.
